Mark’s interest in government and public service began while in college. Initially majoring in business, government and civics courses ignited a commitment to public service. While in college he served on a private charity board and was the subcommittee chair to raise money for children with terminal illnesses. Upon graduation from college, Mark was honored when he was selected to serve the American public as a staff member to the Vice President of the United States.
Though interested in continuing a career in government, he opted to enter the private sector, devoting his attention to health care. While working as a researcher for a health care consulting firm, he analyzed the expenditure of New Jersey taxpayer dollars directed to assist the homeless, and compiled statistics to ensure that public assistance was being properly allocated. He also analyzed data to help the State of Arizona in retaining its Medicaid waiver in favor of an affordable state run alternative (Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System, or AHCCCS). His contributions helped the state determine appropriate rate setting for physician reimbursement.
Mark enthusiastically accepted his current position as part of the library staff at George Mason University (GMU). He works diligently to streamline the Consortium Loan Services Program into a faster more accessible service, making the GMU library contents available to the majority of enrolled college students, faculty and staff in Washington, DC metro area.
Mark’s professional career is demonstrative of the “New American Dream” which means not locking himself down to one career path, but rather showing himself as someone who can conquer any challenge and excel in any endeavor. Though interested in academia, he is open to exploring opportunities involving business and finance. Well read with innovative research skills, he is excited about all future career opportunities.
